A S Rao Nagar
An important example of urban green spaces. The landscape design was a break away from the city park stereotype of criss-cross of pathways leading to nowhere, and ill-maintained lawn patches. The park was conceived as a large plaza dotted with islands of colorful mounds.
On entry one is welcomed to a water-body with fountain jets, and a small bridge which leads one to the main park. Strategically placed shelters offer shaded seating. The Central plaza offers flexible pedestrian movement as well as free running space for children without any restriction. The park is surrounded by residences having easy access to a public green, a phenomenon becoming rarer in many Indian cities.
